QUEST Revival 2008 |
QUEST: a mission...an expedition...a pursuit...to seek
As we journey through life each of us find ourselves on a quest - pursuing something of perceived value or significance. Some pursue riches. Some pursue relationships. Some pursue recognition. Some pursue relaxation. Some pursue retirement. Whatever
the pursuit, once we have laid hold of it the question must be answered - "Has it been
worth it?" Many on the journey of life have accomplished their quest only to find
themselves tired, troubled and empty.
One QUEST, or pursuit, that has and always will have lasting value and significance is
the quest for Christ-likeness. QUEST, when used as a verb means "to seek." In
Matthew 6:33 Jesus gives this instruction to his disciples: "But seek first his kingdom
and his righteousenss, and all these things will be given to you as well." As we pursue
Christ and the building of God's kingdom all the deepest desires of our hearts will be met
by the resources of God. What a wonderful promise we have from our Savior. Why is it
then that so many of us who are professing believers get caught up in trying to catch up
with everyone else? Could it be our quest has subtly changed over time? We are so busy building our own little kingdom that we have neglected God's kingdom.
It is time for us to get back on mission. QUEST WEEK begins Sunday, September 7th.
Our special guest for the week will be Jon Randles, an evangelist and powerful
communicator who is being used of God mightily all across the country. Let's join
together in prayer and participation as we set out together on this QUEST.
